Fatal Car Chase Ends in Crash on Central Avenue

CERES, CA (July 29, 2021) – One person died and another one sustained injuries Saturday evening after a police chase ends in crash on Central Avenue.

The pursuit started around 6:00 p.m. July 17, near Central Avenue at Herndon Road.

It is still unclear what prompted officers to attempt to stop the car, however, police were chasing a Silver Volkswagen Beatle, the driver then lost control of their car and crashed into the semi-truck near Hatch Road.

Ceres Fire personnel had to extricate the both driver and passenger of the Volkswagen Beatle from the wreck.

Responding emergency crews pronounced the driver dead at the scene. While, medics rushed the passenger to a hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, the exact cause and circumstances leading up to the crash are being investigated.
