Biking Accident in Sonoma Leaves Woman Seriously Injured

SONOMA, CA (June 18, 2021) – Tuesday morning, 69-year-old Kathleen Iundice was injured in a bicycle accident on West Verano Avenue.

The incident occurred around 8:06 a.m., just east of Arnold Drive. Emergency crews arrived to the area shortly after.

Furthermore, an eastbound 2011 Nissan Altima struck Iundice while she was biking on Verano Avenue.

According to the CHP, Iundice rode directly into the path of the Nissan where there is no marked bike lane in the area. As a result, Kathleen Iundice sustained major injuries from the crash.

Eventually, paramedics transported the bicyclist to Kaiser Hospital in Santa Rosa for immediate medical personnel. In addition, investigators say she was wearing a helmet at the time.

Meanwhile, the 71-year-old Nissan driver, Kenneth Cavalli remained uninjured.

At this time, the Sonoma Officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
