1 Dead 1 Hurt after Fatal Head-On Collision near O’Connell Lane
SAN ANDREAS, CA (June 15, 2021) – Saturday morning, Dennis Conners sustained injuries and a woman was killed in a deadly head-on collision on Highway 49.
The tragic accident happened at about 7:15 a.m., on June 5. Officers arrived just south of O’ Connell Lane.
According to reports, Conners was driving a Dodge Ram northbound on Highway 49 when, for unknown reasons, he crossed over the double-yellow lines into the opposite lane. There, he collided head-on with a southbound gray 2020 Nissan Altima sedan.
The Dodge rolled over, and the Nissan veered onto the west shoulder of Highway 49 as a result of the collision. Officers identified the Nissan driver as a 50-year-old woman from Iowa.
In addition, the impact of the crash pushed the Nissan onto the westbound roadway shoulder and caused her vehicle to overturn.
Officers arrived on the scene and pronounced the Nissan driver dead on the spot. Police have withheld her identity pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, medics transported Conners to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.
Officials stated that it is unknown whether speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the crash at this time. However, an active investigation is ongoing.
