Ginarro New and Christopher Castro Killed in Deadly Collision on Cave Creek Road [Phoenix, AZ]

2 Dead after Fatal Crash on Greenway Parkway in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ (June 8, 2021) – Monday night, Ginarro New, 27, was one of the two people who were killed when a driver ran a red light on Cave Creek Road.

The crash took place around 10:30 p.m., near Cave Creek Road and Greenway Parkway. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.

Witnesses reported to have seen an eastbound car run a red light. Meanwhile, the police car was heading south through the light on a green signal. As a result, the two vehicles collided.

Christopher Castro, 31, the driver of the eastbound car, was also declared deceased at the site.

In addition, Ginarro had to be extricated from his car before being transferred to the hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, Ginarro later died from his injuries.

Speed and intoxication are thought to have played a role in the accident. The Phoenix Police Foundation and the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) have set up fundraisers to assist the officer’s family.
