20-Year-Old Driver Arrested after Killing James Marsh in DUI Crash near Panther Drive
RENO, NV (May 27, 2021) – 44-year-old James Marsh died and Jennifer Dietsch was arrested Tuesday morning after a fatal hit-and-run accident on Highway 395.
The accident happened just after 6:30 a.m. May 18th, on the southbound lanes near the Panther Drive off-ramp.
According to reports, 20-year old Dietsch was driving a VW Beetle, attempted to overtake the Ford Explorer driven by 44-year-old James Marsh but failed.
The Volkswagen drove onto the traffic island, struck a marker post, and entered the left travel lane occupied by the Ford.
The right side of the Volkswagen struck the left side of the Ford, causing the Ford to veer off the ramp and roll, throwing Marsh from the vehicle. Investigators say he was not wearing a seat belt at the time.
Following the collision, Dietsch fled the scene. However, she was later arrested with multiple charges including felony hit-and-run and DUI.
At this time, Reno police continue to investigate the fatal crash. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
