Ignacio Guzman-Corona Killed in Big-Rig Crash on SR-86 [Coachella, CA]

2 Fatally Struck in Deadly Semi-Truck Accident on Avenue 50 in Coachella

COACHELLA, CA (May 17, 2021) – Ignacio Guzman-Corona and one other person were killed Thursday morning after a big-rig crash on SR-86.

The accident occurred around 10:50 a.m., at the intersection of southbound SR 86 and Avenue 50.

Officers say a big-rig collided with another vehicle at the intersection. However, the events leading up still remain unclear.

Due to the impact of the collision, crews had to extricate one person who was trapped inside a vehicle.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced Guzman-Corona and one other person dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not released the name of the other occupant involved.

Meanwhile, rescuers transported two more people to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

Authorities are currently conducting an active investigation into the crash; more information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
