Fiery Big-Rig Collision Leaves Driver Dead in Tulare County

TULARE COUNTY, CA (May 11, 2021) – Early Sunday morning, a driver was killed in a big-rig crash on Highway 99, near Avenue 24.

The crash occurred just before 1:30 a.m., in the Earlimart area of Tulare County.

According to CHP, the driver of a Chevy Malibu drifted and eventually rear-ended a big-rig parked on the shoulder. However, the events leading up to the crash remain unclear.

The impact of the crash caused the Chevy to burst into flames. Responders arrived at the scene and discovered the deceased driver inside the Chevy Malibu.

The driver of the big-rig did not sustain any injuries. The driver also pointed out that he pulled over to check his tires before the crash happened.

Tulare County officials are still investigating the cause of the big-rig crash on Highway 99.
