Couple Dies in Serious Auto Accident on 405 Freeway
INGLEWOOD, CA (May 6, 2021) – Late Wednesday night, two people were killed, and a Gustavo Ruelas was arrested after a DUI accident on 405 Freeway.
The incident began around 10:40 p.m., at the intersection of Glasgow Avenue and Olive street.
According to CHP, police were pursuing a blue Dodge pickup-truck that ran a red light on Century Boulevard. Officers then tracked the truck onto the freeway.
There, the driver refused to cooperate, and the pursuit began. Shortly thereafter, the Dodge accelerated through side streets before eventually T-boning a vehicle driven by Ryan Davis.
Gustavo Ruelas Jr., 42, was the driver. He has a long criminal background, according to officers, and drugs were discovered in his vehicle. In addition, Ruelas was believed to be under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.
According to CHP, 27-year-old Davis was rushed to a nearby hospital and later died from his injury. His female passenger, Asia Boatwright, 22, also succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
At this time, Ruelas currently remains behind bars in lieu of $2 million bail.
