Fatal Victim of Deadly Motorcycle Accident in Merced County Identified

MERCED, CA (April 22, 2021) – Late Monday afternoon, Jason Casey was killed in a deadly motorcycle crash on North Avenue.

At around 4:15 P.M., officers received reports of the fatal crash. The vehicles involved were described as 2008 Honda CBR1000 and a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe that was towing a trailer.

According to reports, the southbound Chevy was attempting to make a left turn onto the northbound side of the highway. There, the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the Chevy, ejecting Casey from his bike.

Due to the impact of the crash, both vehicles caught fire. Emergency crews identified the motorcyclist as 42-year-old Jason Casey, of Delhi. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead on scene.

Meanwhile, the Chevrolet driver remained on scene and cooperated with the authorities. He was said to have suffered from minor injuries.

At this time, the CHP ruled out drugs or alcohol has potential factors in the crash. However, an active investigation to determine further details is still underway.
