Motorcycle Crash Injures Teen and Kills Bicyclist Jay Knauss

PHOENIX, AZ (March 29, 2021) – A teenage motorcycle rider crashed into a bicyclist in Phoenix on Saturday afternoon, March 27th, killing Jay Knauss and severely injuring the motorcycle rider. The accident occurred near Thomas and 24th Street.

Authorities stated that a 17-year-old male riding a 2014 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling northbound on 24th Street at Cambridge Avenue when he struck Knauss. Knauss died at the scene. Meanwhile, first responders transported the teenager to a nearby hospital in critical condition. His identity has not been released.

At this time, the investigation is still ongoing. Authorities stated that speed may have been a factor in the crash. Additionally, it is still unknown whether drugs or alcohol may have played a factor.
