Alonso Moreno Arrested after Fatal Collision on Franklin Boulevard [Sacramento, CA]
Fatal DUI Accident near Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard in Sacramento
Sacramento, CA (February 22, 2021) – Saturday night, 23-year-old Alonso Moreno of Sacramento, was arrested after a fatal DUI collision on Franklin Boulevard.
Police officers arrived to the scene just before 10:30 p.m., at the intersection of Franklin and Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard. Moreno was heading north around 80-90 miles per hour in a Chevrolet Tahoe when he failed to stop for a red light and struck a motorcyclist.
The rider was ejected onto the sidewalk as a result of the impact. Due to the extent of their injuries, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead on scene.
Reports also indicate that Moreno was not injured. In addition, he stayed on scene and cooperated with the authorities. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased once the next of kin is notified.
Moreover, Moreno said that he was driving home from picking up food and was drinking earlier that day. Police later booked him into the Sacramento Country Main Jail.
