Man Airlifted after Head-On Collision on Highway 41 [Fresno County, CA]

Driver Falls Asleep and Causes Accident near Mount Whitney in Fresno

Fresno County, CA (February 20, 2021 ) – Early Saturday morning, a man was airlifted after falling asleep and causing a head-on collision on Highway 41.

According to reports, the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. CHP says the driver of a white Ford truck fell asleep and swerved into oncoming traffic on the highway.

Shortly after, the Ford then struck a Buick head-on near Mount Whitney Avenue.

Firefighters and paramedics immediately began rendering aid to the victims once they arrived to the scene. Medics say the Buick driver was suffering from major injuries as a result of the impact. An air ambulance was requested to transport the patient to a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, the truck driver remained uninjured and cooperated with the authorities. In addition, officers ruled our drugs or alcohol as possible factors in the crash.

Moreover, the surrounding area on the highway was closed for a brief time during preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened. More information will be released to the public once available.
