26-Year-Old Man Charged with Hit-and-Run after Striking Bicyclist near La Costa Canyon High School
CARLSBAD, CA (February 23, 2021) – On February 7, 25-year-old John Hutchinson was arrested after a hit-and-run bicycle crash on Circulo Sequoia.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 10:38 AM. Officers arrived to the scene shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls.
Based on a report, officers found a woman unconscious on the ground. They quickly learned that a black Cadillac hit the victim’s bicycle. However, the vehicle fled the scene after the crash.
As a result, the bicyclist sustained serious injuries in the incident. Subsequently, crews took her to Palomar Medical Center for treatment. However, authorities have not yet released her identity to the public.
After an extensive search, officers found the Cadillac in the nearby area. In the end, officers arrested 26-year-old John Hutchinson on felony hit-and-run with injuries and driving under the influence. At this point, an investigation is ongoing.
