Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near Florence Street in Riverside

RIVERSIDE, CA (February 18, 2021) – Monday evening, 31-year-old Hector Cardenas was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Jurupa Avenue.

Police first arrived to the deadly scene around 7:45 p.m., near Florence Street. According to reports, Cardenas was on the westbound lanes of Jurupa Avenue when a Subaru Impreza struck him.

The driver of the Subaru then fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim. At this time, there still has been no description of the vehicle involved.

Officers say Cardenas was standing in the road as vehicles navigated around him prior to the collision. The cause still remains unclear.

Moreover, the roadway was closed to the public during preliminary duties. Although, the area has since reopened.
