Passenger Dies after Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 138 in Phelan
PHELAN, CA (January 9, 2021) – A 30-year-old man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Saturday in Phelan, CHP officials said.
The crash happened along Highway 138, just east of Wimmer Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was a passenger in a 2003 Honda that was travelling eastbound on Highway 138 at a high rate of speed. The Honda lost control and collided with a 2010 Lexus in the eastbound lanes. It then crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with the front end of a 2016 Ford.
The Honda continued to travel in the westbound lanes and struck a 2012 Jeep, ejecting the Honda’s passenger.
Responding paramedics transported the victim to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The passenger’s identity was not made available.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Honda sustained major injuries, while the driver of the Ford had minor injuries.
Further investigation is underway.
