Man Dead, Good Samaritan Seriously Injured in Fresno Pedestrian Crash on Highway 41
FRESNO, CA (January 9, 2021) – A man was killed in a pedestrian crash late Saturday evening in Fresno, police said.
The crash happened just before 11:00 p.m. on Highway 41 near the northbound Friant Road off-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was walking in the northbound lanes of the highway when two vehicles struck him. A Good Samaritan, a woman, stopped in the center divider and attempted to help the victim when another vehicle hit her.
Arriving units pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The coroner’s office identified him as David Felix, 32, of Fresno.
The Good Samaritan sustained major injuries. Paramedics rushed her to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Investigators do not suspect alcohol or drugs as a factor in the crash. They believe traffic coming upon the scene at a high rate of speed contributed to a driver swerving to avoid an obstruction and hitting the Good Samaritan.
The investigation is still ongoing.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of David Felix. We also wish the injured victim a steady recovery.
