1 Dead, 3 Hurt in Wrong-Way Multi-Vehicle Crash on 10 Freeway
ELOY, AZ (January 13, 2021) — A multi-vehicle crash on the 10 Freeway left one child dead and three other people injured on Thursday evening, December 24.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident involved four vehicles and happened at about 7:00 p.m.
Preliminary findings showed that a man was driving a car on eastbound 10 Freeway with a woman and two children as passengers.
For reasons still unknown, the car crossed over the median strip onto the westbound lanes. From there, it collided with three cars at milepost 211 between Eloy and Picacho.
Medical personnel transported all four people in the car that crossed over the lanes to the hospital. Unfortunately, one of the children succumbed to their injuries.
Meanwhile, three people from the three other vehicles received treatment for various injuries in the hospital.
Meantime, investigators from the DPS Highway Patrol Division have ruled out impairment as a factor in the crash. However, they are probing further on the case.
