Justin Lopez Injured, Mariah Manzi Arrested in DUI Crash at Flamingo and Pecos Roads [Las Vegas, NV]

4-Year-Old Justin Lopez Hospitalized Following DUI Crash in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV (January 7, 2021) — A four-year-old boy suffered injuries in an alleged DUI crash at Flamingo and Pecos roads on Saturday, December 26.

The Las Vegas police said 4-year-old Justin Lopez was a passenger in a 2000 Toyota which collided with a 2003 Mercedes-Benz ML350 at about 10:00 p.m.

According to the officers, the Mercedes was eastbound on Flamingo Road approaching a red light on Pecos Road. It was running through the red light just as the Toyota was entering the intersection, and the two vehicles collided.

Medical personnel took the drivers of both vehicles, and their passengers, to University Medical Center for treatment. Justin Lopez suffered life-threatening injuries, while the others sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the police said 24-year-old Mariah Manzi, who was driving the Mercedes, admitted to smoking marijuana earlier that day. As per the officers, they noticed that Manzi exhibited signs of impairment, prompting them to request blood draws to confirm intoxication. They later arrested Manzi on DUI-related charges.

Court records showed that Manzi posted a $25,000 bond on the following conditions: a 6:00 p.m. curfew; no driving; and no alcohol, marijuana, or controlled substances. January 14 is her next court hearing.

Meanwhile, Justin Lopez’s family has set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for his medical expenses.
