Genesis Atkins Fatally Injured after Motorcycle Crash on Highway 95 near 5 Freeway
LAS VEGAS, NV (December 3, 2020) — A motorcyclist identified as 27-year-old Genesis Atkins died in a crash in Las Vegas on Sunday, November 29.
According to Nevada Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. on southbound Highway 95 at the southbound 15 Freeway off-ramp.
NHP stated that a gray Toyota Camry moved at a high rate of speed down 95 toward the ramp. Then the Toyota went into restricted access painted gore and struck an impact attenuator. After that, the Toyota veered into the 95 southbound lanes. At the same time, a Suzuki sport bike ridden by Atkins crashed into the Toyota.
The impact ejected Atkins off his motorcycle. Responding officers pronounced him dead at the scene.
Medics rushed the driver of the Toyota to University Medical Center. Then they brought them into custody for suspected impairment.
