3 Hospitalized after Stolen Car Accident on 16th Street [Phoenix, AZ]
Bus Involved in Stolen Car Crash on 16th Street near Van Buren Street in Phoenix
PHOENIX, AZ (November 17, 2020) – Three people sustained injuries in a stolen car accident on 16th Street, early Tuesday morning.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, the incident happened shortly before 5:00 AM. Officers spotted a reported stolen vehicle near 24th Street as it ran a red light. They attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect continued driving away.
A short time later, the vehicle ran another red light at 16th Street. Then, it slammed into a car and a city bus near Van Buren Street.
Emergency crews transported a 35-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman inside the stolen vehicle to a hospital with serious injuries. A 40-year-old man in the second vehicle also needed hospitalization for non-life-threatening injuries.
As per reports, no bus occupants sustained injuries in the collision.
Responders temporarily closed the area for an investigation.
Phoenix police continue to investigate the incident.
