Motorcyclist Dead in Hit-and-Run on Belcher Avenue [Merced, CA]
Driver Wanted after Hit-and-Run at Belcher Avenue and Beachwood Drive in Merced
MERCED, CA (October 23, 2020) – A motorcyclist died in a hit-and-run crash on Belcher Avenue, Friday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 7:03 PM. A westbound vehicle attempted to make a left turn as it approached the intersection. Then, the vehicle entered the path of a motorcycle and collided with the rider near Beachwood Avenue.
Emergency crews pronounced the motorcyclist, identified as a 50-year-old Merced man, dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
However, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid and continued heading south on Beachwood Avenue.
Investigators described the suspect vehicle as a dark green sedan, possibly late 1990s or early 2000 model. Anyone with additional information should call (209) 356-6600 as soon as possible.
