Marion Combs Killed in Fiery Crash on Avenue 49 [INDIO, CA]
Driver Dies after Car Catches Fire at Avenue 49 and Hjorth Street
INDIO, CA (October 16, 2020) – A man who died in a fiery crash Friday afternoon in Indio has been identified.
The crash happened around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue 49 and Hjorth Street.
According to the CHP, Marion Combs, 55, of Indio was driving a vehicle when he crashed for unknown reasons. The car then caught fire following the impact.
When officers arrived, they found the vehicle’s compartment fully engulfed in flames. They also located Combs unresponsive inside the burning vehicle.
After pulling him out, officers started CPR until the fire department arrived on scene.
Combs was taken to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
Traffic investigators are still investigating the incident to determine the ultimate cause and factors involved.
