Woman Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run near 805 Freeway at East San Ysidro Boulevard
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 16, 2020) — A woman died in a hit-and-run near 805 Freeway on East San Ysidro Boulevard before 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15.
According to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims, a woman walked west in the south crosswalk of East San Ysidro Boulevard, against a red traffic signal. At the same time, a gold-colored SUV traveled down the offramp from northbound 805 Freeway.
The pedestrian walked directly into the path of the SUV, which had a green light. The vehicle struck and knocked down the pedestrian, the officer stated. After that, the SUV driver ran over the pedestrian. Then it turned left onto westbound East San Ysidro Boulevard, and left the area.
The victim, believed to be in her 40s, succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene.
There is no description of the hit-and-run driver released.
