Car Falls Off 5 Freeway after DUI Chain-Reaction Crash on 5 Freeway
SOUTH SEATTLE, WA (October 14, 2020) – Two people sustained injuries and a driver was arrested after a car fell off 5 Freeway, Wednesday evening.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened at about 6:00 PM. For reasons still under investigation, a southbound van suddenly stopped near Airport Way. To avoid a collision, an Infiniti swerved.
However, the Infiniti hit a Dodge Charger, sending it off the freeway. Then, the Charger rolled over multiple times and landed on its roof.
Emergency crews transported a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man in the Charger to Harborview Medical Center, where they remain in stable condition. A third occupant did not sustain injuries in the accident.
Authorities later arrested one driver for investigation of driving while impaired with drugs.
WSP continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
