Mark Ward Dies in Rio Linda Motorcycle Crash
RIO LINDA, CA (September 25, 2020) – A man died in a motorcycle crash Friday evening in Rio Linda, CHP officials said.
Police identified the victim as 30-year-old Mark Ward of Sacramento.
The crash happened just before 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of West Elkhorn Boulevard and West 2nd Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Ward was riding his Yamaha R6 motorcycle on West Elkhorn Boulevard. At the same time, a blue Chevrolet Impala was traveling on the opposite side.
While approaching each other, the motorcyclist crashed into the ride side of the car, driven by 38-year-old Rio Linda man.
As a result, Ward was ejected and collided with the asphalt roadway. He died at the scene.
Investigators said drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
