Deadly High-Speed Crash on Cherry Avenue in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (September 25, 2020) – An 18-year-old man was killed in a high-speed crash Friday night in Long Beach.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Cherry Avenue at 45th Street.
According to police, a 2002 Subaru WRX was speeding southbound on Cherry Avenue when it lost control. The car struck the center divider and went into the northbound lanes. It then hit the east curb of Cherry Avenue and slammed into a tree.
Arriving units found the Subaru driver dead inside the car. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Coroner’s officials only described the young man as a Paramount resident.
It was not immediately known if distracted or impaired driving were factors in the crash.
