Minerva Icezagacruz Dead, Sergio Garcia Injured in Highway 243 Crash
GRANT COUNTY, WA (September 19, 2020) – Authorities identified 33-year-old Minerva Icezagacruz as the woman killed in a semi-truck crash on Highway 243, Saturday evening.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened at about 6:00 PM. For reasons still under investigation, a Honda Pilot failed to yield at a stop sign on Road 23 SW. Then, the vehicle collided with a semi-truck driving along Highway 243.
Emergency crews pronounced the passenger, identified as Icezagacruz, dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Honda driver, identified as Sergio Garcia, was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.
Troopers continue to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Investigators also noted that both Icezagacruz and Garcia were not secured in their seatbelts. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
