James Briel Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Dillon Road [Desert Hot Springs, CA]
83-year-old James Briel Identified as Pedestrian Killed in Desert Hot Springs
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (September 21, 2020) – Authorities identified 83-year-old James Blaise Briel as the pedestrian killed in an accident on Dillon Road, Monday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 7:02 AM. For reasons still under investigation, the pedestrian entered the road. Then, an eastbound 2006 Ford Mustang hit him near Corkill Road.
Emergency crews pronounced Briel dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 48-year-old Mustang driver remained and cooperated with investigators. Authorities did not release the identity of the driver.
Officers ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the fatal collision. Investigators ask witnesses to call (760) 772-5300 as soon as possible. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
