Fatal DUI Car Crash on Old Highway 99 at Waldrick Road in Olympia
OLYMPIA, WA (September 22, 2020) — The authorities arrested a 37-year-old man from Olympia following a fatal DUI crash on Old Highway 99 at Waldrick Road.
The collision, which involved two vehicles, took place at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night, the Washington State Patrol reported.
The exact details on how the crash happened were not immediately available. However, the WSP said that at the time of the accident, a 51-year-old woman was operating a vehicle on northbound Old Highway 99 at Waldrick Road Southeast. A 54-year-old man from Olympia was also in the vehicle.
Meantime, the 37-year-old Olympia man was also northbound on the highway. He reportedly tried to flee from the scene after the collision.
The 54-year-old man died at the scene, while the 51-year-old driver sustained unspecified injuries. She received treatment at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.
The authorities took custody of the 37-year-old driver on suspicion of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, and felony hit-and-run. They also suspected that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
