Rider Dies after Crashing into SUV on Walnut Drive near Greenbriar Lane
EUREKA, CA (September 18, 2020) – A woman was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday afternoon in Eureka, CHP official said.
The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on Walnut Drive, just south of Greenbriar Lane.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 29-year-old Trista Poletski of Eureka was riding a 2007 Kymco motorcycle northbound on Walnut Drive at 40 to 45 miles per hour. For unknown reasons, she allowed the motorcycle to travel into the oncoming lane, where she crashed into the front of a 2007 Dodge Nitro headed in the opposite direction.
A witness told North Coast News an off-duty nurse performed CPR on Poletski before emergency medical personnel arrived.
Despite life-saving efforts, Poletski died at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, 46-year-old Terri Welch of Eureka, sustained minor injuries, according to the CHP.
