Motorcyclist Durran Heaney Suffers Serious Injuries after Rear-Ended by DUI Suspect on 14 Freeway near Avenue F
LANCASTER, CA (September 13, 2020) – A man was arrested following a DUI crash Sunday evening in Lancaster, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 9:45 p.m. on 14 Freeway, just north of Avenue F.
CHP officials said Durran Heaney, 38, of Quartz Hill was riding his 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on the freeway when a speeding 2008 Honda rear-ended him.
Both vehicles went off the roadway edge and overturned into the median.
Heaney suffered major injuries from the crash and was hospitalized.
The Honda driver, identified as 32-year-old Miguel Garcia of Lancaster, was also hospitalized.
Police later arrested Garcial at the hospital on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. They booked him at Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Lancaster Station Jail.
The crash is still under investigation.
