Vehicle Fatally Struck Man in Wheelchair in Sylmar
SYLMAR, CA (August 14, 2020) – A man in a wheelchair died in a pedestrian accident on Astoria Street Tuesday night in Sylmar.
At around 9:51 p.m., first responders were able to reach the scene in the 13900 block of Astoria Street.
How the accident transpired was not immediately clear. However, the officials said a silver Ford F-250 struck the pedestrian. The force of the impact ejected the man from his wheelchair. He landed on the pavement.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, they administered life-saving measures to the pedestrian. Unfortunately, he died at the scene. The name of the victim was not immediately available.
Meantime, the pickup truck driver stayed and cooperated with the authorities.
The cause and factors surrounding the crash are still under investigation.
