Fatal Head-On Car Crash on Berkshire Road in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 13, 2020) – A man was killed in a head-on car crash on Berkshire Road, Thursday afternoon.
 
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident happened at about 2:30 PM. For reasons still under investigation, an eastbound sedan crossed into the westbound lane. Then, it collided with a Dodge truck in the 3100 block of Berkshire Road near Greenland Way.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the driver of the sedan dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, a ground ambulance transported the pickup truck driver to a local hospital with minor injuries.
 
Officers temporarily closed westbound traffic on Berkshire Road to make way for clearing operations and an investigation.
 
BPD believes that speed played a role in the fatal accident. Officers encourage witnesses to reach out and call them at (661) 327-7111 as soon as possible. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
