Jimmy Easley Involved in Fatal Collision on Highway 299
DOUGLAS CITY, CA (August 12, 2020) – A 15-year-old female driver died in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 299 Monday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 9:05 a.m. in the area of Douglas City.
A teenage girl from Modoc County was driving a white 2003 Chevrolet 1500 pickup eastbound on Highway 299 and was passing multiple vehicles on the westbound side.
Meantime, Jimmy Easley of Groveton, Texas was driving a white 2015 Chevrolet 3500 pickup westbound on Highway 299, approaching the Chevy 1500.
The teenage girl was passing a white 2015 three-axle semi-truck when she collided head-on with Easley in the westbound lane. The force of the impact hurled the Chevy 1500 into the air and then slammed it on the left rear side of the trailer of the semi-truck.
Both pickup trucks rested on westbound Highway 299. The semi-truck stopped on the right shoulder.
The girl died in the crash. Easley received medical treatment for minor injuries and was released from the scene. The semi-truck driver did not report any injuries.
Whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident is still unknown. However, further investigation is underway. Anyone with information may call the California Highway Patrol at (530) 623-3832.
