Morning Big Rig Crash on Highway 4 in Bay Point Ends in Fatality
BAY POINT, CA (August 7, 2020) – A woman died following a big rig crash Friday morning in Bay Point, authorities said.
The crash happened around 6:10 a.m. on Highway 4, just east of Willow Pass Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a maroon Honda Accord east on the highway near the Willow Pass Road exit. For unknown reasons, she smashed into the back of a tanker trailer truck.
As a result, the woman suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities did not release her identity pending notification of her family members.
The driver of the big rig was not injured.
Crews blocked three lanes of the highway and issued a SigAlert for severe traffic. The alert was lifted around 8:15 a.m.
CHP officials did not rule out alcohol or drugs as factors in the crash. They asked anyone with further information to contact Contra Costa CHP in Martinez at (925) 646-4980.
