Wrong-Way Driver Dies, 3 Others Hurt in Orange Crash
ORANGE, CA (August 7, 2020) – A man who died in a wrong-way crash late Friday evening in Orange has been identified, CHP official said.
The crash happened around 11:10 p.m. on 241 Toll Road at East Santiago Canyon Road.
Saleem Rana, 76, of Anaheim was driving a 2010 Toyota Camry north in the southbound lanes. He then slammed into a southbound 2006 Ford F-150 whose driver could not swerve out of the way in time. The Ford then crashed into a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro.
As a result, Rana died at the scene.
The pickup truck’s driver, a 19-year-old Corona man, suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed him to UC Irvine Medical Center in an unknown condition.
Two passengers in the Ford, an 18-year-old Corona man and a 19-year-old Corona woman, were also injured and taken to UCI.
The driver of the Camaro, a 19-year-old Riverside man, his 23-year-old passenger escape injury.
Police did not rule out alcohol or drugs as a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
