Three-Vehicle Crash on Vanowen Street in Van Nuys Kills 1 and Injures Another
VAN NUYS, CA (August 6, 2020) – One person was killed following a three-vehicle crash Thursday evening in Van Nuys.
The crash happened around 9:10 p.m. in the 16400 block of Vanowen Street, near the Van Nuys Airport.
Firefighters responded to the scene and found one driver who was trapped in the wreckage. They worked to free him, but he died at the scene.
Coroner’s officials did not release the identity of the victim pending family notification.
A second patient was able to get out of one of the crashed vehicles. Paramedics took him to a hospital in fair condition, officials said.
A third person fled the scene before firefighters’ arrived.
Crews closed Vanowen Street between Hayvenhurst and Woodley avenues while they worked on the scene.
Details of how the crash occurred were not immediately available. An investigation is ongoing.
