Deadly Pedestrian Crash on 15 Freeway in Rancho Cucamonga
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA (August 3, 2020) – A man died in a pedestrian crash early Monday morning in Rancho Cucamonga.
The crash happened around 3:33 a.m. on 15 Freeway near Foothill Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, an adult white male pedestrian was walking in and out lanes and throwing stuff at passing vehicles. He was running in lanes with a knife.
CHP officers attempted to stop traffic, but a dark blue Dodge SUV fatally struck the man before they were able to close down the roadway. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities only identified the victim as a homeless man in his 50s.
The involved driver, a Hesperia resident, remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
