Deadly Mobile Home Fire on Paramount Street in Southwest Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 7, 2020) – An elderly woman was killed following a mobile home fire Friday evening in southwest Bakersfield, authorities said.
Just after 7:00 p.m., firefighters responded to the scene in the 4300 block of Paramount Street. The home is in a neighborhood near White Lane and Wible Road.
When firefighters arrived, they found a double-wide mobile home fully engulfed. One person was outside advising that someone may be trapped inside.
Crews went in and knocked down the fire rapidly. They found the victim inside the home and was already dead. Another person suffered smoke inhalation.
The coroner’s office did not release the identity of the deceased victim pending next of kin notification.
Arson units are at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
