DUI Head-On Crash on West Vista Way Ends in Fatality
VISTA, CA (July 30, 2020) – One person was killed and three others were injured following a DUI head-on crash late Thursday evening near a Vista intersection.
The crash happened around 10:55 p.m. at West Vista Way and Copper Avenue.
According to the CHP, a 22-year-old woman was driving an Infiniti sedan westbound on West Vista Way. For unknown reasons, she allowed the car to veer into the path of a blue Chevrolet hatchback that was heading eastbound on West Vista Way. The vehicles collided head-on.
The Chevrolet driver, a 51-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger in the Chevrolet and the Infiniti driver both suffered serious injuries. Paramedics took them to Palomar Medical Center for treatment.
Meanwhile, the passenger in the Infiniti sustained minor injuries and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego.
