One Dead in Truck Accident on Independence Road [Sunnyside, WA]
One Killed, Multiple Others Hurt after Truck Crash on Independence Road and Scoon Road
SUNNYSIDE, WA (July 28, 2020) — A truck accident on Independence Road and Scoon Road in Sunnyside left one person dead on Sunday, July 26.
Yakima County Sheriff’s Office said at around 11:30 a.m., a driver of a full-size passenger truck did not stop at the stop sign southbound on Scoon Road. Then it crashed into another truck.
Deputies said that the driver of the truck that did not stop died. According to the Sheriff’s Office, paramedics brought three other people in that truck, including two children, to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
Medics also transported two people in the truck that was hit to the hospital for evaluation of injuries, deputies said.
According to authorities, there is no sign that drugs or alcohol played a role, but it is still under investigation.
