4 Injured, Fernando Rabago Arrested after DUI Car Accident in Costa Mesa

 
COSTA MESA, CA (July 27, 2020) – Four people sustained injuries and a man was arrested following a DUI crash in Costa Mesa, Monday morning.
 
According to the Costa Mesa Police Department, the incident happened at about 10:48 AM. A southbound vehicle, for unknown reasons, was in the northbound lanes of Newport Boulevard. Then, the vehicle collided with at least six other vehicles near 19th Street.
 
Emergency crews transported four people to nearby trauma centers with unspecified injuries. As per reports, firefighters freed one victim from a wrecked vehicle.
 
The driver suspected of causing the crash, later identified as 24-year-old Fernando Rodriguez Rabago, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
 
The multi-vehicle crash blocked affected areas for an unknown period of time.
 
Costa Mesa police continue to investigate the crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
