Motorcycle Crashes into Utility Pole on Brookhurst Street in Huntington Beach Killing the Rider

 
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (July 24, 2020) – A man was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday evening in Huntington Beach, police said.
 
The crash happened around 7:50 p.m. on Brookhurst Street, just south of Effingham Drive.
 
According to the Huntington Police Department, the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Brookhurst Street from Hamilton Avenue. For unknown reasons, it veered to the right and crashed into a utility pole.
 
The impact ejected rider onto the street. He suffered extensive injuries and died at the scene.
 
The Orange County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Tommy Duong, 30, of Santa Ana.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
 
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation. CHP officials asked anyone with further information to call Huntington Beach Police Traffic Investigator J. Gasteiger at 714-536-5670.
