Fatal Plane Crash on North Green Street in Tehachapi

 
TEHACHAPI, CA (July 24, 2020) – A pilot was killed in a plane crash Friday morning in Tehachapi, authorities said.
 
The crash occurred inside the Industrial Park located in the 400 block of North Green Street, just outside the perimeter of Tehachapi Municipal Airport.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a single-engine Vans RV-8 aircraft with one person aboard went down and crashed onto the rooftop of a building.
 
The plane landed inside the heavily damaged business, and responding firefighters confirmed the pilot died.
 
Coroner’s officials did not release the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
 
No injuries or deaths were reported to anyone in the building or surrounding businesses. Crews closed the area for several hours.
 
The Kern County Fire Department quickly mitigated a small fuel leak. No explosion or fire was reported.
 
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
