Bicyclist Tanner Smith Injured after Collision with Car in Del Norte County
DEL NORTE COUNTY, CA (July 23, 2020) – Two people sustained injuries after a bicycle and a car collided on Highway 101, Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 11:06 AM. For reasons still under investigation, 47-year-old Jami Pfau of Brookings, Oregon, allowed her vehicle to drive onto the shoulder.
The vehicle collided with a bicyclist, identified as 21-year-old Tanner Smith of Cameron Park, near Dr. Fine Bridge. Then, the Ford drove up an embankment and overturned onto the roadway.
Emergency crews transported both Pfau and Smith to Sutter Coast Hospital. As per reports, Pfau sustained minor injuries, while Smith suffered road rash, lacerations to the face, and abrasion to his arms.
CHP ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
