Logan Springs Injured in Scooter Accident in Prescott

 
PRESCOTT, AZ (July 23, 2020) – A 19-year-old man suffered injuries in a DUI crash at Iron Springs Road and Miller Valley Road Monday evening.
 
The Prescott police said 19-year-old Logan Springs of Prescott was riding a kick scooter northbound on Iron Springs Road when he collided with a 2008 Nissan pickup truck. The latter was travelling on Miller Valley Road and was attempting to make a left turn onto Iron Springs Road at the time.
 
Springs suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A helicopter airlifted him to Honor Health Deer Valley Medical Center.
 
Meanwhile, the officers determined that the driver of the pickup truck was under the influence of drugs. They also found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a handgun inside his pickup truck.
 
The driver, identified as 22-year-old Nicholas Tews of Prescott, was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail. He faces charges of felony misconduct involving a weapon during the commission of a drug offense, driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
 
The Yavapai County Attorney’s Office will be reviewing Tews’ case for aggravated assault.
