Jonathan Williams Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Highway 99 [Ripon, CA]

Jonathan Williams Dead after Ripon Motorcycle Accident on Highway 99 near Main Street

 
RIPON, CA (July 24, 2020) — A 20-year-old Ripon man identified as Jonathan Williams died following a motorcycle accident on Wednesday, July 22.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened just before 2:30 p.m. on northbound 99 south of Main Street. Williams rode a 2009 Kawasaki around 60 mph between the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes of the highway.
 
He lost control, and the motorcycle fell onto its side. It slid into the trailer of a Freightliner tractor-trailer moving in the No. 2 lane.
 
Williams got tangled in the fourth and fifth axles of the big rig and was run over. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
 
The Freightliner driver, a 63-year-old Manteca resident, was not hurt, CHP stated.
 
According to Caltrans’ Twitter feed, officials closed the two lanes of traffic because of the collision. At about 3:35 p.m., Caltrans reported heavy congestion on northbound Highway 99.
