Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Chester Avenue in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 19, 2020) – A bicyclist who died in a hit-and-run crash Sunday evening in central Bakersfield has been identified by authorities.
 
The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of Chester Avenue.
 
Police said Michael Andre Hunley, 40, of Bakersfield was riding or pushing a bicycle when a sedan traveling south on Chester Avenue struck him. The driver of the vehicle took off without rendering aid.
 
Hunley suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Police described the suspect vehicle as a dark blue, older model sedan with major front-end damage. It was last seen heading south on Chester Avenue.
 
An investigation into this incident is ongoing. Authorities asked anyone with further information to call the BPD at 661-327-7111.
