Sturgis Asher Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Highway 111 [WHITEWATER, CA]

Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Highway 111 near 10 Freeway

 
WHITEWATER, CA (July 19, 2020) – A man was killed in a pedestrian crash Sunday morning in Whitewater, sheriff’s deputies said.
 
The crash happened around 5:19 a.m. on the southbound side of Highway 111, just south of 10 Freeway.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, someone called in and said they hit somebody on the road. Firefighter paramedics were immediately deployed to the site.
 
Upon arrival, they located a male pedestrian with severe injuries. They performed life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene.
 
The coroner’s office identified the victim as Sturgis Asher, 27, of Landers.
 
The involved driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
It is unclear what led up to the crash. CHP officials are still investigating the incident to determine the factors involved and liability.
