Steven Hill Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on 82 Freeway [YAKIMA, WA]

Steven Hill and Patrick Quillen Involved in Head-On Collision on 82 Freeway

 
YAKIMA, WA (July 21, 2020) – An elderly man sustained injuries in a wrong-way crash on 82 Freeway near Yakima Saturday night at about 6:20 p.m.
 
The Washington State Patrol has identified the man as Steven Hill, 75, and a resident of Yakima.
 
Based on a preliminary investigation, Hill was driving a 2006 Nissan Frontier pickup truck northbound on North First Street and then entered the 82 Freeway facing the wrong way.
 
At the same time, 58-year-old Patrick Quillen of Port Orchard was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on the freeway. He was exiting to westbound Highway 12 when he collided head-on with Hill’s truck. Both pickup trucks were totaled, according to WSP.
 
Hill received treatment at Virginia Mason Memorial hospital after the crash. He is reportedly in stable condition. Quillen, meanwhile, was not hurt.
 
There was no information available on why Hill drove the wrong way. However, further investigation of the crash is ongoing.
